Family friend Chris Wilrye talks about Joshua Ledet’s participation in American Idol and its impact on the community of Westlake and Southwest Louisiana. Wilrye, a deputy Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and active member of the Mossville/Westlake community, has been assisting with activities and functions at the Wednesday evening community gathering at the Managan Center in Westlake in support of Ledet’s American Idol performances.

Wednesday, May 2 The top 5, Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez, will choose tunes from British artists. Thursday, May 3 On the elimination show, Carrie Underwood and Coldplay are also set to perform.

#Idol Style & Fashion Haul for April 11th & 18th

I think all of you readers are beginning to catch on that I #LOVE to customize; it's the only way to get exactly what I want as well as give each #IDOL their signature look. I took an H&M jacket and added all the black to Joshua's jacket. It toned down the orange that gave it a deeper, richer red tone. Little touches of bling go a long way for every man, and I placed a stud on Joshua's pocket square pocket for a little pick-me-up. I wanted to switch up Joshua's look for his "Then" song to show that he can do more than just a blazer look. With a beautiful fit, he looked fabulous in his leather vest and black jeans.
(Left, Now) To sing Fantasia's "I Believe," I styled Joshua ("Sweet cutie," as @JLo called him) in Paul Smith socks and shirt topped with an H&M jacket with Kizmit customizations. He also wore Zara pants, Aldo shoes, a watch by Christian Tse, and his own rings. (Right, Then) To sing Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come," Joshua wore a Zara top and pants. We shed a jacket for this performance and went with a Noah Kingery vest! He also wore Aldo shoes, socks by Paul Smith, and a London Manori bracelet.

(Left, Now) To sing “I Believe” by Fantasia, I styled Joshua in Paul Smith socks and this shirt, and an H&M jacket with Kizmit customizations. He wore Zara pants, Aldo shoes, a watch by Christian Tse, and personal rings.

You don't need to spend a ton of cash to look smart and stylish like Joshua. You can put together a great look with pops of color and a pair of nice fitted pants. I love the whole retro style for Joshua. He's so bold, and if any one could pull off the pink it was him! Joshua's other signature style is his funky socks; it's a fun hidden secret that you can get a glimpse of when he performs!

Joshua Ledet inexplicably landed in the bottom three vote-getters last week on “American Idol.” The talented Louisiana native survived the scare, but his fate rests largely in the hands of the show’s teeny-bopper fan base, an ominous circumstance.

So the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau has issued a how-to-vote press release in hopes of keeping him in the contest.

Here’s the complete text:

Support Westlake’s American Idol, Joshua Ledet this week by voting Wednesday night beginning at 9:01 p.m. Joshua is currently in the Top 7. If he makes it to the Final 3, American Idol will come to Southwest Louisiana to film Joshua’s return to his hometown as he meets his supportive fan base.

There are three easy ways for you to vote: Toll-free Voting, AT&T Text Voting and Online Voting at http://www.americanidol.com/vote.

1. Toll-free Voting: Joshua Ledet will be assigned his own toll-free number during the performance show each Wednesday. To vote, simply watch American Idol on FOX, from 7-9 p.m. and dial Josh’s assigned telephone number starting at 9:01 p.m. until 11 p.m. Votes are unlimited when calling or texting.

2. AT&T Text Voting: Joshua Ledet will be assigned his own SMS/text message short code number each Wednesday. AT&T wireless customers only may text the word ‘VOTE’ to Joshua’s 4 digit short code numbers.

3. Online Voting: If you have a Facebook account, you can also vote online at http://www.americanidol.com. After you vote online, post on your facebook page so that your friends will see that you voted for Joshua Ledet and want to vote as well.

Voting will open at the end of each performance show on Wednesday night at 9:01 p.m. You will have at least two hours to cast your votes. Online voting is limited to 50 votes per account. The results will be broadcast on FOX every Thursday at 7 p.m. So, make sure you don’t miss the results show if you want to see how your vote affected the results!

American Idol Update (April 18-19)

Well, last week was a SUPER crazy week for American Idol.

First of all, Joshua celebrated his 20th birthday on Monday, April 9. Was a very bittersweet week for him though. He got a surprise birthday message from Fantasia Barrino, and then he got to meet Jennifer Hudson!

But on the other hand, he was in the bottom 3 along with Elise (and JESSICA! - yeah, you probably have heard about THAT already!). He ended up being safe, and continuing in the competition. With the judges using the SAVE for Jessica.

LET'S VOTE OUR BUTTS OFF THIS WEEK FOR JOSHUA

THIS WEEK on IDOL, the theme hasn't been confirmed yet (rumored to be an Elton John theme), but the contestants will be singing 2 songs each next week (a total of 14 songs this week!). [confirmed by Nigel Lythgoe].

Thursday's results show will feature Idol Season 8's Kris Allen, who will be performing his new single "The Vision of Love" from his 2nd album "Thank You Camellia". LMFAO will also perform their hit single, "Sorry For Party Rocking".

This is going to be one heck of a week for Idol, so get the votes for Joshua in, and good luck to all of the contestants!

From American Idol stylist, Soyon An. This is what Joshua wore during his 2 performances on last week’s American Idol, 80's week. To see what the other contestants wore, look here.

Another stylish way to wear a pocket square is with a flower! Joshua has such a slick, cool style now that I wanted to bring out another element that he can call his own. It's nice to layer a white flower with a white pocket square, so the flower doesn't look like a napkin. Tip: For those of you trying this at home, make sure you get a vile of water to keep the flower fresh all day!

(Left) Joshua wore, for his powerhouse performance of Simply Red's "If You Don't Know Me By Now," a Hugo Boss top, Theory pants, and an Authentic Icon jacket (available at Kohl's stores this month). I topped off the look with Franceschetti shoes again this week along with a Swarovski bracelet.

(Right) For the duet Joshua wore a Zara top and Dolce Vita suit with Franceschetti shoes. I wrapped up the look with Swarovski bracelet and cufflinks.

This Week on American Idol (Top 7): April 11-12, 2012

American Idol returns on April 11-12, 2012, with the Top 7 contestants performing songs from this decade. The remaining 7 idols will have to select a song from either 2010, 2011 or 2012. Helping the contestants in their quest for the perfect selection will be Akon.

For Thursday's elimination show, there will be performances by Jennifer Hudson (we know one contests that will be on cloud 9!) , Ne-Yo, Rick Ross and James Durbin (Season 10).
