Joshua Ledet Says That Jessica Sanchez is His "Soul Sister"

Source: Wetpaint

Those who followed this season of American Idol closely are well aware of Joshua Ledet’s BFF status with co-contestant Hollie Cavanagh. Evidently, Josh is also close with Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez, going as far as to call her his “soul sister.”

We caught up with the two talented singers during an American Idol Live! Tour press junket and asked about their friendship, their lives post-Idol, and what the future holds for them musically.

Wetpaint Entertainment: You seem like you’re the bestest of friends.

Joshua Ledet: Yeah, I love her. This is like my sister. My soul sister.

Jessica Sanchez: This is my soul brother.

Josh: I've never heard a girl that could sing like this.

You're going to the Philippines together right?

Jessica: We're all going to the Philippines. I'm excited. We’re not excited for the flight. He's scared.

Josh: 17 hours. Like we had a flight together to Orlando.

Jessica: And he was freaking out, and it was like six hours.

Josh: And I was so scared. She was just looking at me, and she was like smirking. And I'm thinking oh my God. It was very scary.

What's the coolest thing you've done since Idol?

Josh: We went to Universal Studios with Jessica and DeAndre [Brackensick]. And oh, my gosh, we had so much fun. She made me get on all the scary rides, and I'm the most scared person. And I don't get on scary rides. But I made her go through this haunted house, and she was so scared.

Jessica: We were screaming. We were hollering. Oh, it was so embarrassing. Josh, has there been any major changes in your life since the show?

Josh: Yes. Some great things are happening, a lot of things in the works right now. But all I can say is I'm super excited about what's happening.

Are you recording yet?

Josh: No.

Is there time for anything beyond Idol for dating and fun stuff?

Jessica: There's always time. You just got to make time.

Josh: You've got to make time. I think there was time on the show. Any time, we kept it private.

PC Interview with Joshua Ledet

Source: Positively Celebrity

At a press conference in Los Angeles last week, I had the pleasure of chatting with the American Idol Top 10 (except for Erika Van Pelt, who was whisked away before I had a chance to speak with her). As a big fan of Idol, I was anxious to meet the contestants to see how their lives have changed since being on the show. We talked about everything from their hectic schedules to their shoe collections, and you’ll never guess who has the most tricks up their sleeve for the tour bus! The Idols also spoke with me about their upcoming 45 city tour that kicks off on July 6th in Detroit, Michigan.

Dressed in a fitted American flag tee and red TOMS, Joshua Ledet was a real sweetheart!

KB: How has life been since the finale of Idol?

JL: Everything is great! It’s been really exciting and fun, a lot of great things have been happening for me. Things have been rockin’ and rollin’!

KB: What can we expect from your upcoming album?

JL: A lot of soul music, music that speaks to people and has a lot of meaning, songs that capture people’s hearts. Nothing about booty poppin’ though! It has a bit of a Beyonce vibe.

KB: What was it like performing with Fantasia Barrino on the show?

JL: Oh my gosh!!! Fantasia is the most amazing singer I’ve ever heard in my entire life! This girl is amazing and I was so happy to perform with her. She definitely took the show!

KB: Do you think Fantasia is going to join you on stage on tour?

JL: Have you been spying on our rehearsals? Just kidding! Hopefully she will but I don’t know, she’s so busy with her upcoming album. But that would be amazing if she could!

KB: Are you planning on pulling any pranks on the tour bus?

JL: Yes! There’s definitely going to be some pranking! They’re probably going to prank me because I’m the most gullible person and I believe everything. But I’ll get them back.

KB: What advice can you give future American Idol hopefuls?

JL: Be yourself and don’t try to mock someone else’s career. Sing from your heart and you’ll be just fine.

Then Joshua talks about the uproar that ensued when he didn't win; how he's going to "lose his mind" on the "insane" tour; how he and Fantasia got in trouble when they kept on singing on the Season 11 finale; and how he's planning to record a Michael Jackson-esque album of "clean," "not phony" music that the whole family can enjoy.

#Idols Dish on #IdolTour, J.Lo, & More!

Source: E! Online

Just because American Idol is over, doesn't mean we have to forget the top ten who sang their way into our living rooms every week for three months. With their insta-fame fleeting, a long summer tour is just the thing to keep these would-be-superstars in the spotlight while they figure out what comes next.

So who is already being pegged as the tour diva, who do the top 10 think should replace Jennifer Lopez and how is Idol winner Phillip Phillips doing post-surgery? We got the scoop!

These days, it's really not summer unless an American Idol tour rolls through a city near you. All the hits and familiar faces will be taking the stage to give fans a three-hour show full of surprises. We had the chance to catch up with the top 10 at an exclusive press conference and according to Joshua Ledet, rehearsals have felt like coming home.

"It's so great being back with everyone," he said, smiling. "Everyone came back together like a family. We're all here support each other with our careers now, so it feels great."

Erika Van Pelt echoed Joshua's sentiments and spilled that they even have a secret language only they can understand!

"We have our own language that no one understands at all, and I'm not even sure we understand it, but we use it anyway. We all call each other ‘Boo-Boo,' and I'm pretty sure Joshua and Hollie [Cavanagh] started that. We also say ‘Magagupay' and ‘Magagupishka,' but we're not even sure what that means. Those are just words that can be used for anything!"

While news of their secret language may stir those warm fuzzies inside, Deandre Brackensick says there will definitely be some diva behavior aboard the bus!

"I think we all have our diva moments," he told us. "It just depends on what we're putting out. I have them. Everyone has them."

Speaking of divas, the question everyone is still asking is if Jennifer Lopez will be returning to the judges' table next season. While the top 10 hopes she'll stay on, they did share their opinion on who would be able to fill her shoes.

"I can't even see someone replacing Jennifer Lopez, she's an icon," Jessica Sanchez said. "Musicwise, fashionwise, she's it."

"It would be hard to replace her," Joshua added. "But if there was anyone to be in that spot, it would have to be one of the strongest women in music, Beyoncé Knowles."

While America's newest idol. Phillip Phillips was noticeably absent for the majority of the press conference, he did stop by to say hello and updated us on everything he's been up to since winning the competition!

"I've just been laying in the bed," he told us. "I haven't been able to do anything really, just resting and recovery. I'm pretty confident [I'll make it through the whole tour.] I'm going to have fun with it. I've been recovering, but practicing when I can. It's going to go well.

American #Idol Audition Advice from the Season 11 #Idols

Source: Fox2Now

Phillip Phillips: “Be yourself and don’t worry about what people think…Know who you are when you come into this competition.”

Jessica Sanchez: “Don’t let the other contestants intimidate you. You’re there for a reason and this is your dream, just sing your heart out.”

Joshua Ledet: “Stay focused and sing from your heart. Don’t be intimidated by everyone else. And choose the right songs!”

Hollie Cavanagh: “Don’t uncontrollably cry and break out into hives (it didn’t work for me and it won’t work for you)…and don’t overthink your song. Keep it simple and sing a beautiful melody…1,000 high notes doesn’t get you to Hollywood.”

Skylar Laine: “Go into the audition knowing exactly what kind of artist you are and be ready to rock out!”

Elise Testone: “Whatever you decide to sing, own it and believe in it as if it was straight from your heart…Don’t think!”

Colton Dixon: “Be yourself…and think twice before wearing red skinny leather pants.”

DeAndre Brackensick: “Be yourself and don’t listen to anyone but yourself, learn from others, but do what you want, you know your voice the best.”

Heejun Han: “Love it, enjoy it and just do it.”

Erika Van Pelt: “Don’t worry about being the AMERICAN IDOL just yet. You don’t have to have perfect hair, makeup or wardrobe to make an impression on the judges. Let your true voice be heard and the rest will eventually fall into place.”

The Unseen Standing Ovation

Source: Zap2It (May 10, 2012)

Joshua Ledet had the judges squirming in their seats ready to give a standing ovation only halfway through his "American Idol" Top 4 performance of James Brown's classic "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," but there's another important "Idol" player who felt the performance so deeply he almost fell over: Nigel Lythgoe.

They didn't catch it on camera, but Zap2it observed the "Idol" producer become so deeply moved that he flailed out of his seat during the performance once Ledet hit his gorgeous high note. "I did see that, I'm not even going to lie," Ledet says of the boss man's near-fall. "All I saw was his legs in the air and I was like, 'Oh my God, what did I do?' I wanted to laugh so bad but I just kind of held it all in."

As for one of Ledet's other big moments, his duet of Maroon 5's "This Love" with Phillip Phillips, the singer says he was pleased with the performance. "I love Phillip, he's like a brother to me," he says.

Despite the fact that they're the only two guys left on the show, there's no competitiveness in their relationship. "Oh no, look -- at this point I don't think anybody cares. We're all winners and we support each other. We want our friends to win -- that's how much we love each other. Seeing somebody going home every week -- it's sucks."

And in case you were wondering, no -- Ledet still doesn't have Jimmy Iovine's phone number.

More Than 3,000 Fans at Joshua's Sulphur Concert

Source: American Press

More than 3,000 people turned out Saturday afternoon for the Josh Ledet Picnic in the Square at Heritage Square in Sulphur.

Fans were treated to a free concert by Southwest Louisiana’s favorite “American Idol” contestant.

This was Ledet’s first performance in the area since he sang before a packed Burton Coliseum on May 12.

Sandra Abla arrived at the Square at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to make sure that she had a front-row seat. She describes herself as a “devoted Josh fan” and even runs the “Team Josh Ledet” Facebook group.

“I heard about it (the concert) yesterday. I went and packed my car immediately so I could leave straight from work and be here. I wasn’t missing it,” Abla said. “I’m his No. 1 fan.”

Saturday’s show was 14-year-old Brittney Betrand’s first concert. She said she had been a fan of Ledet since the beginning of his “American Idol” run and cried when she couldn’t get tickets to his performance at Burton Coliseum.

“I’ve never been to a concert in my life, and I’m just so excited,” Betrand said. “I will keep supporting Josh always.”

Ledet sang gospel music selections and songs made famous by Whitney Houston and Beyonce, as well as “Idol” fan favorites “When A Man Loves a Woman” and “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”

Rose Ann Henry came to the concert to make sure that Ledet knew he had a group of fans from DeQuincy.

“I’ve been a fan from the beginning. I’ve probably voted for him millions of times. Every time it let me go through I was voting,” Henry said. “I’m his best fan.”

Members of the local 4-Them Community Organization volunteered at the event and helped set up the stage and concession stands.

Randy Armelin, a member of the group and volunteer, said that the organization’s relationship with Ledet goes “way back.”

“Josh has been around for a long time. Our organization actually has a block party every Fourth of July and Josh sings at our block party,” Armelin said.

“We went to the pep rally, we went to the parade, to Burton Coliseum,” said Allison Malone, another member and volunteer. “We’re just so proud of him because he is such a humble young man. Regardless of whether he had made ‘American Idol’ or not, he’s still Southwest Louisiana’s idol.”

Ledet, a Westlake native, gathered a huge following from his hometown and surrounding area during his “American Idol” run. Ledet ended the show in third place behind Jessica Sanchez and winner Phillip Phillips.

Ledet and the rest of the top 10 “Idol” contestants will leave on a national “American Idol” concert tour July 6. The tour will stop in Lafayette on July 30.

Joshua Ledet Sulphur Concert Highlights

From KLFY:
He wow-ed America with his talent during his run on American Idol and now Westlake native Joshua Ledet came back today to entertain his home state. Ledet performed at a free, picnic style concert at Heritage Square in Sulphur. Ledet finished in third place on the Fox reality TV singing competition in which fans across America vote for their favorite performers. Phillip Phillips, a guitar-wielding crooner from Leesburg, GA., won the competition last month. But towns across Southwest Louisiana championed Ledet and this was his way of paying them back for all of their support.

A Joshua fan & J-L.net visitor tweeted:
Had an AWESOME time at #JoshLedetDay in Sulphur LA! @JLedetAI11 sung every song he did on #idol &songs by #Beyonce #Whitney #Adele &Gospel

He performed I Will Always Love U, Halo, Best Thing I Never Had,& some Songs by Adele! Awesome Vocal!

Joshua & Jessica Share Their Favorite #Idol Moments

PEOPLE

Click to see the video interview!

The dust is settling on season 11 of American Idol, and for runner-up Jessica Sanchez and third-place finisher Joshua Ledet it's a moment of calm before they set out on the Idols Live tour.

Well, sort of. The newly minted celebrities are making the rounds, talking to press and meeting important people, like First Lady Michelle Obama.

Both stopped by PEOPLE offices to talk about their favorite moments on the show and to look ahead at their first big concert tour.

My favorite moment would probably have to be singing "When a Man Loves a Woman," Ledet says. "I got really great feedback from the judges and America."

"Singing with Jennifer Holliday was by far the best," Jessica says of her big finale moment. "She is a monster of a singer. [We were] feeding off each other's energy and it was just crazy."

Jessica also says she has a new friend: "Jennifer Holliday is like my second mama. She give me tips, she calls me baby," she says. "We contact each other on Twitter all the time."

As for what Joshua can't leave home without? He says he has to have his cell phone, his laptop and Louisiana Hot Sauce. "It's my favorite hot sauce," he says. "I put it on just about everything."
